Help Beautify Obsidian Portal
One of my favorite parts of the Reforge redesign is the ability to choose a nice high-resolution background image for your campaign. You can change the tone of your game from high fantasy to space opera to gritty urban streets just by selecting an image.
However, we need more images! Our current background image library is too small and we need help expanding it to add more images and give people a variety to choose from. To that end, we need someone with an eye for imagery and color and the ability to put together an image / color scheme combo that will make peoples’ campaigns look awesome.
Find high-resolution background images that represent a variety of genres, games, settings, and systems. I was thinking of using stock imagery sites like Shutterstock, but if you have a better idea, I’d love to hear it.
Finding the images is only the first step, however. In addition, you’ll need to adjust them to make a good background image. Maybe that means blurring the lines a bit or adding a filter, or perhaps cropping the image to make it fit the site layout better.
Finally, with each image, we need a default set of colors to suggest to users. We want each image to have an accompanying color scheme so text, divider lines, and all the other non-imagery pieces of the site fit together with the background image.
- Experience with creating themes (blog themes, website themes, your own Obsidian Portal campaign themes)
- Your own computer and all the tools you need – Photoshop, Illustrator, and any other image manipulation required.
- 5-10 hours per week to work on it. Work on your own schedule, fit it in when you have time.
Send a (short) resume to firstname.lastname@example.org and make sure to include links to web content that you have designed – a blog, your Obsidian Portal campaign, your deviantART profile, or anything else you’ve personally designed.
Along with your resume, explain how you would approach the task of getting new background images for Obsidian Portal and generating the color schemes. Remember that it’s a long-term goal and we want to have many backgrounds, so focus on how you could make it a repeatable process.
- This is a paid, part-time 1099 contractor position
