I’ll be the first to admit that our Textile input isn’t exactly the easiest thing to use. Getting linebreaks to work and text to look right can be a real chore. Trust me, we’re working on it.
However, a good interim fix is to reduce the turnaround time between writing the text and viewing it. To that end we’ve added a quick-preview feature for wiki pages and adventure log posts. There’s really not much to explain. Just click the preview button below a textarea and you can see the magic.

Give it a shot, and I think you’ll find that it makes formatting your posts much easier. Edit a little, preview, edit some more, preview, rinse and repeat.

Very cool, I’m glad to see this feature – considering the number of times I write and re-write everything that goes up on my wiki, I expect to get a lot of use from it. Thanks!

I’ve been having a problem with text input and formatting recently too! Initially I used TinyMCE but noticed that it wasn’t working correctly on iPhones and Adroid phones, so switched to the MarkItUp text-editor which allows you to input HTML stylings.
But then realised it was probably a bit too much for users to edit and add HTML directly, so have taken all formatting options off for now.
What’s the best solution? wikicode? bbcode? It looks like you’ve gone for wikicode.

Thanks a lot guys, this will save a lot of time.
Is it possible to apply this feature to the Characters and Forum tabs? Since most of my players aren’t too familiar with Textile or HTML, being able to preview how the text will look would be really helpful for them.

Sandman – We’re hoping to add it to forum/character very soon.

Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys, one of my players was just asking if such a feature existed and I had to tell him that sadly it did not. Glad to see that it does now!

Awesome sauce! I used it updating my campaign today, and it was great to be able to preview my formatting as I was working.

Just deployed it for Characters and Forum posts. Should make those a little nicer to work with.
I’m really glad everybody is digging this feature. I had a feeling it would be well received. Not sexy, just really useful.
