Free System Friday: Guilddom Adventures Made Easy

It’s Free System Friday! Tired of your current tabletop RPG system? Try a new one for free! Today’s offering is Guilddom Adventures Made Easy (GAME).

Welcome to Guilddom Adventures Made Easy (GAME), a simple yet delightful “paper and pencil” fantasy role-playing game.

GAME is unique among role-playing games (I think) because its rules and setting are specifically designed for a narrator and a single player.

Because of its simple rules, GAME is well suited for a player’s first exposure to “pencil and paper” role-playing games. However, an experienced leader is needed since these instructions cannot provide a proper introduction to running a game.

The rules are free, so grab a friend and give it a try!

It’s Free System Friday! Tired of your current tabletop RPG system? They try out something new for free! Today’s offering is a bit on the wacky side. It’s…. THE GAME WITH NO NAME!

Let it be said, however, that the cosmos is a big place… For every rule, there are billions of bizarre exceptions. The outgoing denizens of the Melanite Asteroids live in the silence of a vacuum and communicate with a combination of telepathy and expressive color changes. Northern Biltharians lack heads, while those that inhabit southern Biltharia lack bodies. Largathians—who have six legs, are roughly twelve feet at the shoulder and breathe argon—are a nuisance at all but drive-in theatres. There is no word for Tourist in Teerise, the native tongue of the scorching planet Cinder, which is inhabited by entities composed of liquid fire. For the sake of the reader’s sanity, we won’t even touch on extra-dimensional beings such as the Nij of Diphtheria, who are composed of solidified neon, breathe fire and… well, you get the point.

Those Nij sound like a fun group to have at a party. So what are you waiting for? Grab the rules, some friends, and get out there amongst the stars!

It’s Free System Friday! Tired of your current tabletop RPG system? Tired of overly complicated rules and powers getting in the way of all the fun? Try a new one for free! Today’s free system is…

Dungeonslayers is not about having elaborate, realistic rule mechanics nor about playing out pseudointellectual drama filled with egomaniac monologues. Instead it’s about straight-forward plots in your traditional fantasy world, where evil is still evil, where monsters have to be killed mercilessly, where devious traps strike and where phat loot awaits, while pencil and graph paper work their own special magic around the gaming table.

Grab some players, check out the Dungeonslayers download page, and get to slaying!

Free System Friday, 2/19/2010

It’s Free System Friday! Tired of your current RPG system? Try a new one for free! Last week, we gave you a great setting idea from the mind of designer Will Hopkins. This week: ICAR.

Icar is set in the far future, presently 92030. The human race has been through many wars but none as far reaching as the war that begun one thousand years ago. Now, the galaxy is split between a race of intelligent robots, called the Droids and the human race. The droids rarely impinge the territory of the human race, fighting amonst themselves they are little threat.

Watching over the human race is the Imperium, which is a benevolent organisation which desires the progress and survival of the race. The Imperium understands the gravity of its task. Without them, the human race would soon break apart. Of the three areas of space (called clusters) that humans control, one is rich and life is easy, one is industrially based and the third is still being colonised.

99% of the human race live and die without any knowledge of what is going under the surface of society. Gaia, a means of communicating in a virtual reality, has allowed subversive syndicates to operate within human space. The syndicates work either to make money illegally or to simply explore avenues of human existence that are denied to them by the Imperium.

The player characters begin as pawns in a huge space opera where millions of people’s lives are often at risk, by fighting for what they believe, they improve and grow in power until they are the ones holding the strings.

Grab some friends, grab the ICAR core rule elements, and make a new campaign today!

Award Winning!
