Two New Features: Campaign Backgrounds and Player Secrets

We wanted to open 2011 with a bang, so Ryan and I worked hard over the holiday break to get these two features ready to go. They’re both in need of a little polish, but that’s never stopped us from launching something before.

January’s Featured Campaign: Honour Among Thieves

Friends, it’s January. It’s the far-flung year of 2011. It is the future. A future filled with spaceships, blood thirsty Reavers, and dashing pilots who may or may not be in love with space hookers. It may not be our present future, but it’s definitely the time-setting of this year’s first Featured Campaign Honour Among Thieves by DM BrandonSweet!

BrandonSweet was kind enough to answer some questions for us all about his chosen campaign. Read on for advice, tales of glory, and space cowboy shenanigans!

UPDATED: Donate to charity, get free Ascendant time

We’re a little behind in our fundraising efforts for Childs Play, so we’re going to go all-in. For the last day of 2010, we are offering free Ascendant time on Obsidian Portal for your charitable donations. All you have to do is open your wallet and help provide toys and games for sick kids stuck in hospitals around the world.

Update: It’s been a great day, and we’ve met our goal and then some. Thanks for all your help and generosity. If you’re still interested in an Ascendant subscription, check out our subscriptions page.

Child’s Play, the annual charity brain-spawn of 2 of our beloved geeks Mike ‘Gabe’ Krahulik and Jerry ‘Tycho’ Holkins, has raised over a million dollars this year for bored sick children across the globe. Last year, we participated by creating the +1 Obsidian Portal Chest of Wonders, and it was GLORIOUS. It was also a huge trunk literally heaving with swag that I had to carry up a flight of stairs.
