Weekly Update – December 19, 2018

Hello there OPers! We had a little bit of an off week last time around in the Updates Department due to the outbreak of 500 & 503 errors that were causing headaches. But we’re back now, so without further delay, let’s get into it.

Server Errors Resolved

As mentioned in the preamble, the various server errors (500, 503, etc.) that were giving everyone grief and causing delays and outages have all been resolved. We thank everyone for riding out that rough patch with us, and for the patience displayed by the community while we worked to get things rolling again.

Campaign Forum Editing Fixed

Also repaired this week was the campaign level forums bug. Users will no longer be “greeted” by that blank white screen on Firefox, or the “HTTP ERROR 500” message on Chrome when they click to edit a campaign forum post. We know this was a particularly annoying bug (especially for our play-by-post users), so we’re pleased to have that out of your way.

Next Fix: Tags

With the campaign forum bug fixed, and the temporary “fires” (server errors) extinguished, Tags have become the focal point of the development folks’ efforts. We’re hopeful for a speedy resolution, and will bring you updates on this issue as we have them. In the meantime, we appreciate your continued patience while work is being done. Remember also, campaign search is your friend!

Map Markers

If you’ve been looking at map markers lately, you may have noticed the recent addition of a set called “Testing – Do Not Use”. These are markers that Jynx001 and I are experimenting with. One content avenue that we’ll be doing in the reasonably near future is periodic releases of new map marker sets, but to do this we need to practice.  What this means is that these markers are not finalized and may get tweaked, updated, or deleted altogether. So don’t use these yet, but feel free to take a look and give feedback (or ideas for sets).

CotM/CotY

I know, I know, I’m behind on getting Campaign of the Month posted. With the recent server errors that we had, my already delayed posting got delayed even more because of the increased number of support tickets and the like. I will be getting CotM caught up in the next few days, and gearing up for the Campaign of the Year push immediately after.

That’s going to wrap things up for now (see what I did there?). We’ll be back next week with more.

Award Winning!
