Make Your Voice Heard
It’s the beginning of a new year, so you know what that means! That’s right, it’s time to take a long, nostalgic look back at all of the featured campaigns that came before, and pick our collective favorite! “But wait” I hear you say, “Isn’t this 2021? Why are we looking at the campaigns for 2019 when we should be looking at those for 2020?”.
While we could make a joke (or two, or a thousand) about how rough of a year 2020 was, the truth is that we need to set right a certain wrong before we can get to 2020’s featured campaigns. You might not have noticed (and frankly, who could blame you), but we never got to crown our 2019 Campaign of the Year – and that’s just not right! This being the case, the Selection Committee has decided that the best way to give 2019’s contenders their due recognition is to give them the distinct CotY vote they should have received (instead of a ‘double header’ style vote like we did the last time we got behind). Having said all of that, let’s take a moment to look back at 2019’s featured campaigns!
The Contenders for 2019
- April – First Blight by jaythegreenling
- May – Aether and Ashes by Nicesociety
- July – Birthright – Cities of the Sun by Joedylan2000
- August – Into the Gathering Dark by Pytheas
- September – The Cold Truce by Conan_Lybarian
Cast Your Vote
The voting for 2019’s Campaign of the Year is now open, and will close at 12:01 AM on February 2nd, 2021. This means you have just one week to review the candidates above and choose which contender you believe was the best of 2019. To cast your vote, head on over to our SurveyMonkey Poll and click on the radio button associated with your choice; then hit the “Submit Vote!” button.
Special thanks go out to our prize contributors! Their generosity in supporting Obsidian Portal’s CotM program is part of what makes all of this possible, and we couldn’t be more appreciative of them. No matter what style of game you’re playing, they’ve got a product for you, so we strongly encourage all of our members to show them the support that they have shown us. Some of the potential prizes for our Campaign of the Year winner this time around include:
- Core Book PDF’s from Pelgrane Press, makers of 13th Age and many other games
- New campaigns from Mongoose Publishing, like Traveller’s “Pirates of Drinax”
- Modiphius Entertainment discount codes for their online store
- ATMA: The Roleplaying Card Game bundles from Meromorph Games
- Paizo’s Pathfinder Second Edition and Starfinder Corebook PDF’s and Beginner Boxes
- An entire R. Talsorian Games digital library – everything they have available on DriveThruRPG! As well as PDF copies of Cyberpunk RED for the runner-up campaign!
What’s Coming Up
We’ll be back with the results of the vote (and 2019’s winning campaign) once the voting window has closed. As of right now, the voting for 2020’s Campaign of the Year is scheduled to begin on February 14th, and last through the 21st. This minor delay between CotY’s gives us time to ensure that we have posted February 2021’s CotM before we need to dive back into CotY voting.
Finally, don’t forget to help keep our Featured Campaigns program alive by nominating your favorite campaigns in the community forums. The Selection Committee couldn’t do what it does without your input. Thanks for reading and for casting your vote!
