Recently I had the pleasure of being able to sit down with freelance writer/editor Scott Fitzgerald Gray of Wizards of the Coast and interviewed him about his new book “A Prayer for Dead Kings and other Tales“. The book is full of short stories, a novella and a short novel full of awesome, inspiring sword and sorcery tales and more. Scott also happens to be writer of my personal favorite D&D 4e publication to date: The Tomb of Horrors (Hardback & DM Reward Module)
Within the interview I pick Scott’s brain about a little bit of everything writing and D&D related, including a dreaded “What is your favorite…” question relating to D&D. We also talk about his new book, of course. He’s also kind enough to be giving away some free (electronic) copies to random commenters, so if you leave a comment or question below you’ll be entered in a raffle to win 1 of 5 electronic copies of A Prayer for Dead Kings and Other Tales! The contest will end November 21st at midnight, so be sure to chip in any old comment by then if you’d like a chance to win.
This month Brian brings us an especially festive comic, one that we hope you’ll really enjoy. So stuff this one with some witty banter and wash it all down with a few hilarious one-liners. There will be no excuses for leftovers, so dig in! We can’t wait to see what you come up, remember one caption per comment and leave as many as you like!
That’s right folks, it’s that time again! A crisp new comic from d20Monkey for you to start October off right! This one is full of dread and horror among…many other things, yes? Remember one caption per comment, leave as many as you like!
Winner will have their comical genius recognized both here, and at d20Monkey.com, gain 3 months of Ascendant time and an Obsidian Portal t-shirt! Contest will expire at midnight (CST) Oct 31st and drift back into the nether realm where it will see final judgement. Muahahaha!
A New Dark Age
So, with yesterday marking the return of Unhallowed Metropolis in its new revised format, we’d like to share our love for the game by bringing you guys a chance to win a copy of this amazing title – hot off the presses!
There’s already two introductory adventures free and readily available to sate your Neo-Victorian thirst for guns, gas masks and the walking dead; Salvation and Sanctuary. I personally ran Sanctuary myself and had an absolute blast with it, as did my players. I highly recommend checking these adventures out, they come complete with pregens, maps and a quick reference sheet. Don’t like pregens? Grab a character sheet and roll your own!
Okay gals and guys, you know the rules by now! Submit your best captions, word bubbles, thought bubbles or whatever suits your fancy in the comments below. When judging time comes you could be the one to win 3 months of Ascendant membership time, get your comic posted on d20Monkey.com and an Obsidian Portal T-shirt!
Just to sweeten the deal I might even send a few bits of leftover OP schwag from gencon with the T-shirt!
This caption will run into early-mid September so you’ve got a few weeks at the least, get wise crackin’!
Congrats to Zorana on winning the Fiasco contest! We hope you enjoy all your Fiasco goodies and the hours of enjoyment to soon follow! Please, everyone feel free to keep commenting and discussing the game in the comments below!
Let Me Tell You A Story
During our last day at Gencon, Micah and myself were pulled into a game of Fiasco by Danny Rupp of Critical-Hits (aka @Bartoneus the Architect DM) along with about a dozen other folks, we wound up with 4 full tables of games going on. While neither Micah or I were honestly too keen on the idea of playing at first, I’m fairly certain the experience was some of the most fun we had during the whole convention and I’m very glad we played.
